Quickie – A Hint of Paleo in the Mainstream

Not all the time, but often I like to watch Dr. Oz during lunch. Sometimes his demonstrations are gross but it’s always informative and the man rarely bends to the food pyramid. In fact, he brings on experts who go against the grain (hehe, pun intended) and praise the importance of free range and grass-fed protein sources. Today, he introduced America’s housewives to rainbow chard! Can you imagine? Chard!

Sure he had quinoa and yogurt (from a grass-fed/free range cow), and black beansĀ on the sample table but wouldn’t we rather have America switch to these than stay addicted to the crack (sugar) and corn? I vote heck to the yes.

I’m betting the Dr. Oz himself is about 90-95% paleo based on the foods and health strategies he recommends in his books and on his shows. While, he is playing to the masses here, he fundamentally stays away from the same things we do.

Now, Dear Media Lords, can we please have a Paleo cooking show? There’s a market out there that has yet to be tapped. American housewives need to learn HOW to cook this crazy little veggie called rainbow chard. One thirty minute show (preferably, also available on Hulu for us non-cable viewers) is all we need to get America eating in a whole new way!

  1. What’s your take on Oz – he used to write a column in Esquire that I used to follow. He’s got some good suggestions but he comes off as a quack at times
