Week 3 recap
Ok, Paleo’ers… time to check in on week 3.
We had a great week of Thanksgiving and some much-needed vacation. I know at least 2 of those days were solid paleo days.
I was stoked to see the great turnout for our Paleo Thanksgiving feast. It was a great meal, and some great times.
My personal experience with this is starting to work better… I’m less hungry all the time, I’m more apt to choose better things when I’m at the store. After meals, I’m wide awake. I feel better when I’m working out, and I think I’m recovering better as well. The experience in general is that this is not very hard to do, and I think we’ve come up with a model that will allow us to sustain this over the long haul, which is where I failed the last time I tried it.
In our last week of the “challenge,” let’s think about how we can keep it going… hopefully this blog stays running, maybe we can host others in the forum.
What’s your plan for day 31? Go crazy? Just have that one thing you haven’t been able to shake?

This is certainly a tease. I’m a week behind the rest of you guys! Oh well…I do already know what I’ll be celebrating with. Tart frozen yogurt and vodka water…but not together of course!
Sounds like a weak craving, I know, but after a few bouts of stomach pains, you begin to have second thoughts about excessive meals. Congrats guys on your 3rd week! =)
V–i’m a week behind too!
Paleo came at a great time for me. Honestly, I wasn’t eating enough healthy fat in my diet thus hungry constantly. Currently I’m less hungry, feel balanced and my sugar cravings are just a whisper.
I’m very happy

Week 3 was a lot easier. I still walk the grocery store aisles dreaming of pizza or cheese but then I look at labels and get totally freaked out by all the additives and whatnot. I’d rather try out another Paleo-er’s recipe for pizza or cheez. And right there is the biggest lifestyle change for me. Little Miss Domestically Disabled now cooks…not heats, but cooks! I’ve learned how to use spices to change the taste of an entire meal! I’ve stopped buying frozen veggies (unless they are a backup plan) and now buy fresh from the organic section or, even better, the farmer’s market.
Yes, I spend a huge percentage of my income on food but I’m ok with that. I’d rather buy amazing food from local farmers/ranchers than gmo science projects that are available at the mega-grocery store. Did you know that a real bell pepper is actually 1/4th the size of what we see in the grocery store? Totally freaky!!!
Speaking of food, Georgia…we should all look into buying a cow together. No way in hell could I store all of that in my freezer, but I think it would be do-able if a group of us did it together. And significantly cheaper!
V – I think Lisa is looking into that. They cow she was looking at wouldn’t be available till May though. May is only 6 months away…we should definitely do it!
Yes, I really want to buy a cow. I kinda stopped once I found that one local ranch that had some available in May…this is my project for tonight, I’ll send out some info once I have it.
Week 3- Things are definitely easier. Thanksgiving was fantastic- I got a little nostalgic before the meal for my mom’s apple pie and sausage stuffing, but honestly, I don’t feel like I missed anything at all. My energy levels are good. My workouts have been less than stellar…but I’ve also been battling a couple injuries, and I haven’t been getting the sleep I know I need (my own fault, and I’m working on it!) However, I did PR on the squat today, and we’ll see how I do on press/deadlift Thursday.
The biggest thing this week is that it honestly feels like a lifestyle to me now. Very manageable. My first day off will be my birthday, so I will enjoy some cake and maybe a trudy’s mexican martini (Top Shelf Tuesday anyone??), but then I plan to get back to clean eating until Christmas weekend.
